Lactose intolerance

Has anyone got experience of LOs being lactose intolerant??

DD has suspected reflux and we started combination feeding today however she seems to have got worse. She's had more explosive wet poos than normal, stomach growling, passing wind etc. She has had infant gavi in her milk as prescribed and tried her with Colief, both of which s&s has mixed with EBM and syringed when BFing.

I was under the impression that infant gavi made them bunged up but she's been worse!

Just wondering if the formula milk has made it worse? We're using HIPP organic.

Hi op. The growling tummy and wind can be a normal reaction to starting formula - it is way harder for them to digest than breast milk.

Lactose intolerance is actually quite uncommon in babies. But its possible your dd's reflux & other symptoms could be a sign of cows milk protein allergy or intolerance. In this instance the formula you are using would definitely not be helping. Unfortunately there is no definitive test for cmpi other than an exclusion diet - meaning no dairy for you if you are still bf or using prescription formula.

However I am not a doctor, so if you are at all concerned, I would suggest seeing your gp. It may be she just needs some proper reflux medicine.

Hope you get things sorted out.
