4 month old poo (EBF)

Ds is 4 months and EBF. He poo's up to 4 or more times a day. Usually, one of these is explosive and will (apologies) destroy him - spill out of nappy and all up his back. It's normal bf poo - yellow and runny.

I'm so sick of having to change and wash him every day, especially in this cold weather but also I'm worried that there's some intolerance going on. He is a very content baby, great feeder and generally very happy but I always read that it's normal for bf babies to poo every second day or so, or less frequently.

Any advice please?

Watching with interest as my DD is 3 months and EBF and is the same. Apart from all the laundry I'm not worried as she's growing well but will be interested to see what others say as I didn't know BF babies we're supposed to feed less. She does get quite distressed when passing her daily mega poo, as we call them, but is happy as Larry once its out!

*supposed to poo less, not feed less!

My EBF 4 month old poos anywhere between 1 and 3 times a day completely at random, sometimes he does the poo explosions which you describe. He sometimes grunts and complains for a while before pooing, but I think that is to do with wind because he will do a big fart before he finally poos. I have heard bf babies poo habits can vary a lot, so it's hard to say what's normal.

I found that trying different nappies helped with the poo explosions. He has them all the time unless I use newborn nappies (with the mesh, like Pampers New Baby). The mesh stops it in its tracks and it doesn't escape half as easily! He's just gone into size 4 though so I can't use them anymore! Sad

Dd1 and dd2 both pooed up to 10times a day till we started weaning when pooing slowed a bit. Dd2 now 9 months and poos 1-4 times a day dd1 is 2.5 and poos 1-3 times a day still. Both ebf and neither have any intolerances.

Mine went 4 times a day ish until solids, was very sicky too but this settled on solids too so don't think it was an intolerance.

Mine had a phase like this. A bf counsellor said if there was no pain it was normal.
Bloody annoying though.
H&M and next have some nice darker colour baby clothes in case of never vanishing poo stains.
