Tandem feeding

Has anyone done this??

Any advice??

I have a 2.4 mnth ds who is a booby man through and through, and shows no sign of wanting to give up at all. He has 2/3 feeds a day (would like more and usually tries his luck lol).

I am now 20 weeks, so looks like he will keep feeding through the preg, so can anyone give me any tips at all?

yes, I have and have only recently stopped feeding my dd1 (now 3.5). I will find you some old threads to link to, but if your ds is still feeding at 20 weeks then I think it is likely to carry on, as you are probably producing colostrum by now.
the main thing is, when the new baby arrives, to always feed the new born first. there should be no difficulty in feeding both of them. in fact I would say that a really good wayot establish bf is not to have stopped
there is a good book that many people have reocmmended, I will find a link.
I personally found tandem feeding a great experience and I feel it helped to smooth over the first few difficult weeks, and I can honestly say that we have had no sibling rivalry AT ALL.

btw (slightly trivially) I am now slimmer than I have been for YEARS, and sprang back to pre pregnancy weight double quick

What is the difference in your 2 then? Did your dd stop herself then at 3.5?

We always said that ds2 could carry on until he weaned as he was the last one and so looks like the boobies will see a few more years of action yet!

there is almost exactly two and a half years between them. over the course of my pg, dd1 went down to three feeds a day - morning, nap, evening. these gradually dropped to two and then one, in the morning. She weaned herself, I did "don't offer, don't refuse" - although I kept thinking she had given up but she still ad the occasional odd one (maybe once a fortnight?).
it was all very easy and stress free.

That sounds good. There is going to be 2 and 9 mnths between them, and ds has all but droped the nap now, but likes a feed if he does.

Youalso get a little face in the night appear and say "Boobie" and smile sweetly. Wouldn't be so hard if he wasn't so bloomin cute lol.

He does still ask in the day sometimes, think he is gettig the back teeth through at the minute as he has been asking more nad also dribbly (such a good combination)

I found that at your stage it was painful, but have now stopped being as bad.

It seemed that the areola around the nipple was swollen (sorry if tmi), but it has calmed down now and is OK.
