Baby off his milk

My son is 16wks, and for about 3 days now he just won't feed. He latches on for a few sucks, then starts twisting around, spits the milk over me and starts looking round. The only half decent feed he has is his last one before bed, and even that is less than usual. Should i be worried he's not getting enough? Could it be related to his teething?

Is he still doing plenty of wet/ pooey nappies?

How do you feel about ringing a BFC? It's likely there's a reason for his behaviour at the breast and it's probably more complicated than you could write about here! He may be teething, he may have hurt his mouth, he may have something making his mouth sore, like thrush. You wouldn't want this to go on too long, so if you feel you can, it's probably worth calling someone who you can talk to more thoroughly.

I agree. DD is bottle fed and that's hard enough when she's teething. I hate the idea of dosing up kids with meds if not necessary but have found small doses of calpol during the troublsome days (like a half dose every so often) does the trick for her. it's so hard because you know they're not getting the milk but dd has been poorly for past 2 weeks and hardly fed and still put on loads of weight so I wouldn't worry too much. (easier said than done). I'd get some help if you can cos it's hard work when they won't feed.

Still wet nappies, no poo but he does that sometimes anyway. Have given him some paracetamol because he's been shouting at me most of the day (not like him at all) and was a bit warm. Have managed to calm him with that and playing him The Specials...only had one decent feed since he got up at 6.30 this morning. Who would i ring? (My HV not much use)

not sure but will bump this for you till others come along. my dd shouting all day too due to teeth so you have my sympathies. will keep a watch for you.

Is his nose blocked up? Maybe that would mean that latching on is difficult.
