Milk donation - anyone here do it??

Just wondering if anyone donates their milk to the human milk bank.
I'm hoping to start donating soon, just emailed our local milk bank to get myself screened, then hopefully I'll be able to help out prem and sbcu babies.

Yes, I do it.

Am going to have to stop though as I'm going back to work and DS2 needs what I express now. Although if I get spare, I'll still donate that.

I did for a few months after my 2nd & 3rd children. DD1 had severe milk allergy and although we never used milk from the bank, this is how I became aware of it. It's a marvellous thing!

a midwife at hospital said something about how I should donate all my extra milk to a bank but I just grinned (no idea such things exsisted!). Think she was joking anyway. Now I know about it, next time I think I will as I was literally spraying milk 24/7 for the first 2 months.

Fantastic, it's good to know that mum's on here are helping out.

I donated approx 50-70oz per week for 10months to the Queen Mothers Hispital/Yorkhill in Glasgow. I was literally a Human Cow! But very proud of it as i must have helped LOADS of babies.

I think it is wonderful that mums do this for other babies as it requires a lot of time and dedication not to mention energy to produce the milk in the first place!

My nearest bank is in Southampton which is 65+ miles away from me. They sell the milk on to hospitals that need it from what I understand from my midwife, but at a reduced cost pending on how many donors are in that hospitals area.
But thats only what I can make out from the conversation yesterday, I could be wrong.
