I'm really struggling ladies and after some advice please as my health visitor is useless :-(

Dd is 16 weeks old today and since she was 4 weeks old has slept from 10pm - 8am which was amazing.

However the last week she's starting waking twice a night for a feed. She was on 5 6oz bottles a day, and then started wanting the 2 extra feeds a day so was on 7 6oz bottles so I upped it to 7oz bottles for a few days but no change and I'm loosing my mind through tiredness. Any advice please? Thanks x

Apparently a sleep regression and hunger pangs are normal at 4 months. Lots of physical and mental growth! Sorry no advice bit at least nothings wrong so to speak!

Ok thanks! Dd is a little one but in grand health and strong! Feeding every 2-3 hr so mummy's tired! Grin

There is a 4 month sleep regression but I wouldn't say it is unusual for a 16 week old to still get hungry in the night.

It's very hard when you're tired though so I do sympathise.

AllOutOfNaiceHam · 16/12/2014 11:36

Totally normal and it sounds like you are doing the right thing to just go with it. It will pass. It's quite unusual for babies that young to sleep through, so you've been lucky.

MrsGiraffe12 · 16/12/2014 12:03

I know, I've been so lucky. My eldest never slept till he was 3!

I'm resisting the pressure from the mum in law to wean, she's far too young.

She's still a happy girl who rarely cries so I guess I'm going to just keep doing what I'm doing :-)

Normal I'm afraid! Mine slept through from six weeks to four months then started waking again. Sometimes she sleeps through, sometimes she doesn't. I just go with it.

Unfortunately it is very normal for a 16 week old to still need milk in the night. At 16 weeks my DD (bf) was having 3-4 feeds per night. She's only just stopped waking for milk at 13 months but that's another story Smile. There is also a 4 month sleep regression (if you search on here you'll see lots of posts about it). I'd suggest just riding it out, you know your baby can sleep through so will get there again.

My LO is also 16 wks and I've noticed a huge difference in his behaviour the last few days. He's gone from happily watching mummy potter around the house all day to constantly demanding my attention.....plus he is so fussy with his feeding. Haven't noticed a huge difference in his sleep but he's never slept through the night like yours! The best sleep I had was when he was 4/5 wks old to be honest so I live in a constant tired state!
