I have an 8 month old DS whom I am still breast feeing. He will not be put down in his cot to go to sleep but always goes to sleep whilst I am feeding him - does anyone else have this problem or had the same problem ?? Has anyone got any great tips/ideas I can use ?? Should I let him cry in his cot (don't actually want to do that) Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hiya... My DS is 6 months, and is the same. About 2 or 3 times hes fallen asleep just sucking his fingers, or just fallen asleep without the breast. What I found helped is I leave classic fm on as soon as I take him to bed, so when im not feeding him he still has something of comfort to him (he loves listening to music). x

Sounds good, I will try that. It just wears you down doesn't it and I'm sure that I need to stop breast feeding - his first tooth has come through and god do I know it !!

Same here! DS stopped it (for now). Best thing is to stop the feed straight after they bite, just say "no biting" and let them carry on when they cry for it again. 1/2 time hes just playing, so I put myself away and let him play on his mat

hi cheekymonkey - some and join us on the "no cry sleep solution" thread theres loads of us in the same boat as you. My 8 month old DD2 is the same, uses me as a human dummy will only fall asleep on the boob and wakes in the night and the only thing to get her back off to sleep is a feed.

Do you want to stop BFing completely? Or just want him to stop feeding to sleep? I personally think 8 months is too young to go cold turkey and hate the idea of her crying for me and getting distraught (plus I have DD1 to think about re: crying waking her up)

I have ordered "the no cry sleep solution" by Elizabeth Pantley which is supposed to be excellent.
