Stopping breastfeeding DD2 is just about to turn 18 months - what to expect

I did it gradually we were down to one feed a night and the last two nights DH has given her cow's milk and she went to sleep before I got home. Wondering what to expect with hormones etc. Feeling sad but proud. Only fed DD1 for a few weeks

I don't remember much in the way of hormones when I stopped feeding dc1 about that age. I do remember that it took ages before my milk was properly gone though!

I had no hormones or engorgement - we just cut down the one feed left until it was five min, then swapped over to cows milk. DS was 15 months old at the time.

We did it gradually too. No engorgement. But a slightly strange hormonal reaction, had hot flushes and felt really light headed, sick and dizzy after we dropped the last feed. I fed until 16mths. But only lasted a week or so.
