Baby biting - will stopping BF cause my boobs to explode?!

LO, 8 months, has started biting during a feed. It really really hurts! I'm currently BF at 6am, 11am, bottle at 3 pm and last BF at 6pm so x4 feeds a day. If I just stop BF, will my boobs be in trouble or should I try to wean him off a feed at a time? I don't want to stop but I shouted in pain this morning and scared him so I think it's for the best all round!

you don't need to stop - you just need to teach him that biting is not OK, by taking him off the breast every time he does it and saying "no biting". If you shut up shop, he will soon get the message that biting means no milk.

And yes, you will be very uncomfortable if you just stop BFing!! Drop feeds one at a time, and substitute bottles - it will take a while.
If you really are going to stop, you should express tiny amounts to ease the pain, and use cabbage leaves, or bags of frozen peas to reduce swelling and reduce the flow of milk.

But as I said, you don't have to stop, really - they soon learn not to bite Smile

Thank you. Will give it a try as biting is no fun. Confused
