second tt snip

ds has his ptt snipped at 1 week after shredding my nipples. It was snipped again today at 7 weeks.
The first time I noticed an improvement in latch immediately. Today there has been no changeSad .
I really really want this to work but the Doc and lc who snipped gave a 50/50 chance of improvement.
I'm starting to loose hope and think that formula is the way forward.
I bf ds1 for over a year with a tt and every feed was sore. I promised dh that if number 2 was tt I wouldn't be so stubborn as it made me really down.
But I can't imagine feeding ds any other way. I wish I knew the best thing to do. To complicate things ds is cmpi and will need 'special' formula. Sad Sad

Would you consider expressing? Dsis had thus problem with dd1, she hired a super duper machine from the la leche people (not the usual hand held thing) it worked a treat.

She continue expressing for a year. Not the same as fb but will give ds2 and you many of the health benefits.

I would consider pumping but am worried about the time constraints. I already feel my other ds is slightly neglected by all the time im spending feeding the new baby.
What would a typical pumping routine be? How do you know how much milk to give? What happens to comfort sucking?
Is it possible to meet all of babys milk requirements by pumping or will formula top ups be needed?

My dsis just pumped from memory she did it mostly at night/evening and early morning. It is less milk than the equivalent formula but dn seemed to thrive. Really important to get the right machine, initially dsis tried using a hand held but found it unbearable to use.
dsis did use a dummy, not usually a fan but dn seemed to need it.
I wouldn't worry too much about the time you are spending - it always hard at first, I had a 22mth gap and dd wanted to feed half hourly for weeks at a time...ds did get used to this and I did relax once I had accident proofed the house lol.
I hope what ever you decide that things settle for you, it is upsetting when things don't go as we envisage especially after months of anticipation.

thank you idefix living in hope that we will be in the 50% success group but its helpful to understand my options.
stargirl an excellent article and pretty much what the Dr who snipped said. Ds had a the white diamond last time. I had a look in his mouth after yesterdays snip and it looks very similar to the photo of the complete release. Fingers crossed

Maybe just needs more time to learn how to use his new tongue. I hope things settle for you all.
