Going back to Aptamil 1

My son has been formula fed from day 1, I started him on regular Aptamil 1. He had a couple of projectile vomiting sessions when he was about 3 weeks old. Like the anxious new mum I was I took him straight to the GP who suggested I could try him on Reflux formula to prevent it happening. So I duly switched his formula and it seemed to work, but last week his poos were like hard little rabbit droppings and he was straining and gurning.

Then I remembered I had some Comfort milk that I bought in error before and that it said 'for constipation' on the tub, so I switched him to that. His poos have improved but he is doing the most rancid farts all day long - think bad eggs.

So I've decided to throw in the towel and stick him back on Aptamil 1, no more changes. He may vomit from time to time, but at least he won't be bunged up and at least he won't stink of eggs!

Has anybody else been through similar with these milks? Am I doing the right thing? I can't keep chopping and changing!

I really don't think it will do any harm to go back to first stage formula at all. You can always rethink if he appears to be struggling with it Smile

Oh my GOD. So I switched him back to regular Aptamil (he'd been on special stuff for reflux) and gave him a bit of water. 2 hrs later he went all red and restless again. I took his nappy off and rubbed his tummy. And about a week's worth of shit started coming out. Filled five nappy bags with dirty tissues/wipes.

So yep, he's now back on regular Aptamil!

Poor little man. Hope things improve soon.
