would any long term breastfeeders mind helping me a small survey? (not a real survey)

I breastfed my older ds til age 1. He is now 5 and we still have issues with nighttime dryness. My younger ds is 2.5 and appears to be dry at night already. I am still bf him. I just wondered if there may be a link. Obviously good chance its a coincidence but thought it may be interesting to see other peoples experiences. Obviously breastmilk has hormones in it. So thought it feasible there could be a link! I couldnt find anything with a google search.

I bf DS to 3.2; he was dry at night from 2.10.

I bf DD1 to 20 months (ish); she was dry at night from 2.4.

I bf DD2 to 3.0; she was dry at night from 3.4.

Usual anecdote/data disclaimers, but there's no obvious link in my experience.

Breastfed ds2 till he was three, still has accidents on a night at 5.

But you did do extended bf and they were dry fairly early so possibly helped. Await more responses! Will be excited if i discover a new bf positive!

No 1: Bfed until 4. Dry from 3.5 at night. Day at 3.
No 2: Bfed past 4. Dry from 3 at night. Night and day at same time.

I bf DD for 21 months, dry at night around age 3 I think (can't really remember). I noticed her night nappies were dry so stopped using them and she had no accidents.

Bf DS till he was 5, dry at night a month or two after we stopped. His night nappies were still usually a bit wet but he didn't want to wear them any more so we stopped, and he had only one or two little accidents. He still needs a wee every night but wakes up and takes himself off to the toilet.

bf DS1 and DS2 til 13 months (so mot particually extended)
DS1 dry at night aged 3
DS2 dry at night aged 3.5.

Now, daytime accidents......

I don't know where your 'extended' cuts off, & I suspect I wouldn't count as extended for you, but bf both ds & dd for a year, dd was dry about 2.3, at almost exactly the same time as she was dry in the day; ds still wets regularly at 10yrs .
From what I know of extended nightime wetness, it wouldn't be impossible for it to be a link (nighttime wetness is almost entirely controlled by a hormone that slows done urine production - could changes in bm as children grow turn this hormone on?)

Ds breastfed till 4, potty trained quite late - 3ish and was dry at night soon after iirc.
Dd bf till she self weaned at 3 and a half, potty trained just under 2 and a half (I eemember aa it was feb half term) again dry at night very aoon after that. Thwy are now 7 and 5 and the bed wetting days seem a very long time ago, although oddly we do still have a pack of size 5 pull ups

DS1 to 15 months - dry at night at 3.

DS2 to just over 2 - still not dry at night (he's 5 and a half now!)

Breast feed DS1 until 2yrs 10 months. Dry at night at the same time as dry during the day at 3

DS to 14 months - dry at night 3.4 (same as day)

Breast fed ds1 until 4.4 dry day and night by 2.5.

DD never BFed properly but had expressed milk for 6 weeks. She was dry through the night at 2.5 years.

DS BFed until 20 months and was dry though the night at 3.

Interesting idea although can't see a link from experiences of family and friends.

Still breastfeeding DD1, she's 3.4. Dry at night since just over 2 years old.
Also breastfeeding DD2 but she's only 1 so definitely not dry at night!

It does look fairly hopeful. There dont seem to be that many long tern bf with very long term dryness problems.

It would be very exciting if there was a link. Cos its something that i think mothers would see as a real bonus to make long term bf worthwhile.

mine were all breastfed until 12-14 months.

ds was dry during the day at 2, but not at night until 3.
dd1 was dry in day at 2.8 and at night about 2.11
dd2 was dry during the day at 18 months at at night 20 months.

Most kids are dry at night between 2.5 and 4.

DD is 2.7 and still has a morning and night breastfeed, she was dry in the day at 2.6 and is now reliably dry at night too.

Breastfed ds until 15 months, but he wasn't dry at night until around the age of 4 1/2. He does have quite a weak bladder though poor boy!

Dd1 was bf to 12 months. She was dry at night at around 8 ish (she has SN)

Dd2 was bf to 17 months ish. Not yet dry, age 7

Ds was bf to 2. He is only 2.3 now, and not dry at night (and not ready for toilet training)

Not a long term breastfeeder at all - all mine BF til 16 weeks.

Ds1 dry daytime at 2.5, dry at night 3
Ds2 dry daytime 2.5, dry at night 5
dd dry daytime 3.5 dry at night 3.5.

Still breastfeeding DS 3.10. Dry in the day at 3.5, nowhere near dry at night.
