Expressing stupid question

I was looking forward to trying to express the rest of my milk off this morning . Have read all the tips and was hopeful. I've tried the Avent electric pump but friend gave me the manual version and said it was gentler. Thing is I can't seem to get a good seal and any suction. Are you supposed to squeeze your boob into a pointy shape and shove it into the funnel or lean forward and press the pump in so boob is flattened or neither??! Said it was a stupid question but I didn't even get one drop :(

Check the rubbery "seal" over the breast part. It needs to be absolutely 100% smooth and fitted with not so much as a tiny wrinkle round the rim.
I had the same issue, was fuming ... turned out I'd got a tiny kink in the seal at the rim: completely killed suction.

I just sat normally and press the hand pump onto the boob- seems to work fine.

Ah thanks I will have another look! So frustrating!! Hope it's going well for you?
