Ameda Lactaline or Lansinoh Affinity?

DS (17 days old) is currently EBF, and will be going to nursery 3 days a week in January when I go back to work. I'm hoping to build a stockpile of frozen breast milk so that he can continue with breast milk from a bottle while he's at nursery during the day, I can express at work during the day and I can still breast feed in the evenings and at night. At the moment I'm expressing roughly 100ml twice a day using a Tommee Tippee manual pump, but obviously will need a pump that will express a greater quantity, more quickly (and preferably hands-free) to use at work. I've been looking at second-hand electric double pumps, the Lansinoh Affinity and the Ameda Lactaline are the two that seem most available second-hand and are roughly the same price. Which (if either) would you recommend, or would you suggest slashing out extra for a brand new one - if so, are either of these two any good? Thanks in advance!

Ameda lactaline I found very good. You can pump both sides at once - but this took a little practice. storring in bottles was mre reliable than bags and I go some bottles from ebay -Sterilised and used for expressing for hospital - but can be washed after and sterilised for reuse. They work out about a £1 for a 200ml bottle. bags i found were prone to leaks etc

BF1000 thanks for your opinion - I'll have a look at the storage bottles. I did order some bags and thought they looked and felt a bit flimsy!

I am on my second ameda lactaline pump, I wore my last one out when I exclusively pumped for my first son. I bought another one recently for my ds2. I think it's great. I used lansinoh bags for the freezer and they never leaked.

Thanks mmgirish Smile I've ordered the Lactaline from eBay!

I second Lansinoh milk bags being reliable - the trick is to freeze them lying flat rather than upright. Can stack them in order of date, less likely to get knocked about (main cause of leaks), and easier to thaw. Grin

Oh great, a tip though; be really really gentle when cleaning the small white valve thingys. They are really fragile and a bottle brush will tear them. Clean with a cotton bud instead.

I genuinely thought this was a baby name thread
