Dodgy boob?

Having problems with weight gain with my 8 week old DS. I'm currently expressing after feeds and consistently get much more milk from one breast.

I went to see a lactation consultant and did a test feed (weighing before and after feed) on each breast - there was good weight gain after the feed on the 'good boob' but zero gain after the feed on the 'dodgy boob'.

If we were getting the kind of feed from the 'good boob' on both sides we would probably be fine, but as it is am having to give a formula top up after each feed.

I don't notice any difference in the way DS feeds on each side. He has a tongue tie which we intend to get snipped.

What might be behind the 'dodgy boob' and is there anything that can be done to fix it?

It's normal to have good and dodgy boob Smile

My right boob is the 'good' boob - always full, expressing was easy, milk obvious, so I tended to feed off it first - which made it produce more.

My left was slower, felt less full, slower let down but once I started feeding from that side more regularly it felt more like my right side but out if the two has always felt less full.

The TT snip will help with weight gain and improve your supply as you LO will get better at extracting the milk.
