Constipation on formula?

Dd is six weeks old, have just started giving her two (sometimes three) ff's a day as she wasn't gaining. But she hasn't pooed in 48hrs and counting! She used to be a very regular once, sometimes twice, a dayer! Any advice?!

fully breastfed babies can go several days without pooing. My dd/ds were formula fed and pooed every 2-3 days. If she is not uncomfortable then I would see how she gets on - you might be due an enormous poo explosion soon

my son got formula when I was in hospital with mastitis and couldn't breastfeed, before he had been breastfed only. he got really constipated and went on for 5 days without pooing. Before that he was having at least 2, 3 dirty nappy a day. Eventually he was seen by a pediatrician and they had to give him a tinny suppository, things moved withing couple of hours. we were so pleased that even took a photo of it! Is your dd uncomfortable? to us it was obvious my ds was in pain as he was crying a lot and was inconsolable. but it is common that they can go for a few days without pooing, so doesn't necessary mean she is constipated. hope she gets better!

Thanks both, she did two epic poos! Formula poo stinks. Disgusting.
