hello I am new to mums net. Does anyone have any advice about going out for the first time. I've been invited to a dinner/dance which will mean an evening off breastfeeding. I don't like expressing milk - too sore. Will an evening off ruin my feeding regime - baby is 10 wks. child care arranged not leaving baby in car!

think it would depend on how ofter your baby is feeding -would he/she have formula instead of expressed milk?

After 10 weeks, an evening off will have no long-term impact at all, chester....if your baby usually feeds in the time you are away, though, you might find you are bursting out of your glam togs, so you might want to be prepared with breastpads and maybe adjust what you are wearing with that in mind.

If leaving ebm is not an option, then I suggest feeding the baby just before you leave and then crossing your fingers he'll be ok for your sitter! If he is very upset, wakes up looking for something, then a bottle/cup of water will be fine if you are keen not to give formula. A 10-week old baby is going to come to no harm whatsoever missing out on a breastfeed/feed of milk for the time you are away, though your sitter might need to be prepared for some comforting and rocking.

Have a good time
