8 week old - nights getting worse

I am solely breastfeeding apart from an expressed milk or small formula top up in the evening given as a last resort after hours of cluster feeding an Ds getting rather angry with my boobs.

We just about get a 4 hour stretch at the beginning of the night by then it's every 2-3 hours and sometimes 1.5. He was better than this at 2 weeks old. Any one have any advice on how I can try to increase time between feeds? He is feeding every 2-3 hours during the day which is fine but just hoping for a bit more sleep!

Sure there will be others with good ideas but just wanted to say that I've found that at that age & really up until fully sleeping through regularly you often get better phases then worse then better. For me it's never been a consistent improvement week after week but far more variable.

At 8 weeks if I was getting a 4 hour stretch followed by a 3 hour stretch I would have thought it was christmas! This sounds very, very normal to me, sorry.

The fact he was better at 2 weeks old is irrelevant really, they don't necessarily make linear progress, they chop and change as they go through developmental milestones and growth spurts.

It's tough but you just have to ride it out. Apparently it gets better but at 6 months I am still only getting 6 hours, 3 hours, 1.5 hours if I'm lucky.
