I'm breastfeeding exclusively. My DD suckles for 20 mins on each breast then falls asleep. I burp her and wait for her to settle before putting her down. She is asleep for 1 minute then wakes up crying and rooting again to feed. I always let her latch back on. This goes on and on so in the end I end up breastfeeding her for 3 hours at a time and she never seems satisfied. I'm producing enough milk as I can hand express plenty. Where am I going wrong? It's getting uncomfortable now. Makes it difficult to be able to get enough food and drink for myself.

cluster feeding is normal! especially in the evening.

mine cluster fed constantly (as you describe) from about 4pm until he went to bed at 10.

I am now very good at eating my tea very fast!! He didnt stop cluster feeding until about 11 weeks. He is 15 weeks now but still feeds every 2 hours.

You might be putting her down too quickly. Either hold her while she sleeps for 20 mins or swaddle her then put her down.

Thanks. It's nice just to know that this is quite normal. I guess I've just got think to myself that this won't go on forever.
