Feed & Bum Wind

My dd is starting to bf well at the moment. She farts a lot at the minute not just during bf. Is it normal to have a very windy dd/ds?

Yes, some are farters, some are burpers, as long as she's gaining weight and seems generally happy and comfortable (after a good fart of course) I wouldn't worry too much. Just don't wean her on beans! Grin

Ha.
We're really struggling to get her satisfied at night. She seems to feed for ages and won't settle. If we put her down after a good amount of time bf, she then gives us the signs for more breast.
However I do know they like to feed more at night.

Babies just don't like to be put down at night I'm afraid - it's survival instinct more than anything.

Still waiting for that big explosion in the nappy. DD has done poo but not one for a few days. Starting to worry that she should be pooing more. The nappies are wet thou. DD seems happy, no excessive crying and bf well. Think we'll get her checked out at the Dr's on Monday if no significant bowel movement by then.

Is your DD a newborn OP?

Gagesb1 · 13/09/2014 23:25

They said she was Stargazing?

I mean how old is she? Have you seen someone about her not pooing?

Gagesb1 · 13/09/2014 23:31

She's a week old today. She pooed in the hospital but not much since we got her home. We spoke to the midwife yesterday and we have another visit on Monday.

She should be pooing at least every day at this point. Has her poo changed from meconium to yellow yet?

Gagesb1 · 13/09/2014 23:35

It started to but waiting for her to poo.

hollie84 · 13/09/2014 23:39

I'd definitely get her checked asap.

Gagesb1 · 13/09/2014 23:45

Ok thanks.

My DD is now 15 weeks old, and has always pooed around once a week. Apparently this is normal for breast fed babies? She is a fatter too, never known a baby to fart so much! X

hollie84 · 14/09/2014 19:55

It's only normal after the first few weeks Gavlarrr.

mangofizz · 14/09/2014 20:38

I had no pooing accompanied with very slow weight gain, we were readmitted on day 10 just to check everything was ok (it was) some babies just don't do that constant newborn pooing, in our case it was due to the slow gain. It was taken very seriously and I'm glad we got checked. We also had very noxious farts and I lost count of the hours spent willing him to poo!

Gagesb1 · 14/09/2014 20:52

We had a small poo this morning. Lots of wee. Got the midwife visit tomorrow.

Yep normal. Except mine poos not farts. So I have about 8 dirty nappies a day to contend with Confused count yourself lucky it's just wind Smile

Gagesb1 · 15/09/2014 15:51

Smile Seeing as I'm reporting on bowel movements of my dd. A good big movement this afternoon.
It's now been a week since we got her home. Time is flying!
