Reflux

Hi all, looking for some advice. My little girl is now 17 weeks, was born 5 weeks early. At 5 weeks old she was diagnosed with a cows milk protein allergy and the following week silent reflux. We have been back and forward to the hospital and she is now on neocate formula, gaviscon, ranitidine and omeprazole.

My issue is that she is still screaming through every feed, sometimes she will take 60-70mls no problem and then start screaming! We have had a barium swallow done at the hospital but haven't had results yet. We were told to start weaning from the 1st oct but the health visitor nearly had a heart attack when I told her that and said we shouldn't until 6 months! :(

I have to swaddle her to feed for her to even entertain it! I have tried different teats, changed bottles, tried walking around. The only thing that works is dream feeding but I can't do that every time as she doesn't sleep much!

She doesn't cry after feeds and is a happy content baby when she's not being fed. This makes me wonder if it is the reflux making her scream or whether it is a learned behaviour and she has just associated pain with feeding.

I'm out of options so any advice would be appreciated :)

How long has she been on those meds/formula?

Laura281985 · 11/09/2014 22:11

She has been on the formula since she was 5 weeks! We were admitted into hospital to be tube fed about 2 months ago so has been on all those about 2 1/2 months! All max dose too so can't be increased!
