Strategies for distracting ds from wanting bf

he's two now and still feeding loads, it's such a habit and comforter.... feel guilty wanting to stop now I've written that!

could you only do it morning and night and any other time offer him milk or water from a beaker and a big snuggly cuddle?

now I've started this thread it's dawned on me that have started a similar one before - sorry for repeating self!

Twiglett, think that's the next logical step - he just gets so upset if I say no and refuses cuddles, anything from a beaker...

its a learned response though isn't it?

and they say it takes a week to 3 weeks to change a habit

can you maybe steel yourself to give it a week then reassess?

Can you go out loads? Soft play, farm, lots to see and do and wear clothing that prohibits him from getting to you? (Some kind of neck to floor arrangement, perhaps?)

yes, a week doesn't seem too insurmountable. I'm as much to blame - will tell him we're only having nums in his bedroom and then find myself letting him to keep him quiet if I'm on the phone or if he's a bit under the weather. gah, going to have to stop giving out mixed messages!

yes, will try to avoid usual feeding places! but have forgotten what to do if young children are ill and you don't just let them feed when they want - cuddles and sips of water???

If you want to cut down, you can tell him it's only ok to feed in certain places? I started that with DS1 at about one, and DS2 at the same age, and am still feeding him happily, at nearly 2.

NQC, think you recommended that before to me (apologies again for repetition!) - really MUST be fair to him and stick by it. How useless am I???!!

It's not unfair to him, it's unfair to you! He's getting lots of boob when he wants it, what's unfair about that?

I really like just allowing it in his room - means that he takes me by the hand and tries to take me there, to ask for boob, which is nicer than just "honking" my boobs.
