Here's a fresh thread!

Let's start by introducing us/babies again Grin

Oh Caiad Sad I really, really hope you have got some sleep!! I have a fan on in my bedroom too as it find the sound quite soothing, as does DS I think and I can't imagine it not being on. Go and make some loud noises outside your spare room or at least send him out to buy you a new fan I'm the morning.

DS went 8pm-23.50pm but was asleep again by midnight after a quick feed. He then slept for just over 5 hours and I'm up feeding him now. God I hope he goes back to sleep quickly!!

Can I join in? I don't have frequent wakings luckily but the ones I have are sooooooo long. E.g tonight ds2 asleep at 9. Then woke at 4.30 and still awake now. It's normally 3.30 wake up so this is amazing but I'm struggling to be basically up for the day at 3 or 4 am. I used to sleep like 12 hours a night before kids. Ds1 is an amazing sleeper now but it took 3 years to get to 7-7. I can't do another 2 years 9 months!

squizita · 28/09/2014 06:58

Sammy know what you mean about safety. My DH smokes so in order to settle dd outside the moses basket I have the palaver of moving everything to the spare bed if needs be as he cant sleep too near her just in case
Move everything with a screaming baby of course!
She's been hungry but good tonight. No screaming, just regularly 2 hr "yip yip suck" noises to which I feed.
Trouble is was getting light for the last one now I can't sleep - sat listening to the snores of DH and snuffles of DD wide awake!
Cannot I think I will also look up the sleepy head!

squizita · 28/09/2014 07:00

Ch1a Sad Yep the length of the wakes ... and timing - if it's getting light I can't return to sleep!

mrsmugoo · 28/09/2014 08:42

So restricting his milk seemed to work quite well - he fed for just short of 10 minutes on one side only - I deliberately offered the side I know I have less milk. He took a while to resettle himself in the cot (usually after feeding both sides he's flat out straight away) but he got there in there end, in reasonable time and with no fussing.

He was up his usual 3 hours later - so no sooner, despite having less milk.

mrsmugoo · 28/09/2014 08:44

Those of you worrying about your DH/P and co-sleeping - you do realise that you aren't supposed to have baby in the middle? This is unsafe. Baby should always be on your side, preferably with the bed up against a wall or a bed guard - making sure baby can't fall into the gap.

Cannotbelieveit · 28/09/2014 08:51

Welcome ch1a!

Good job DS has always slept on his own and doesn't need to co sleep as DH smokes on the evenings and drinks at the weekend Shock

Well after his 2nd feed at 5 he slept til 8am so actually feel ok!

And my DH is banished to the spare room when co-sleeping takes place Grin

DS had an absolute monster feed at 05.15am, practically drained both sides before going back to sleep. He then slept until just gone 9am and even then I think he only woke up as the monster feed had led to his nappy leaking - both layers of clothing and his sleeping bag were pretty wet!!

DH took DS to ASDS earlier to do our big weekly shop so I blitzed the kitchen whilst I had the chance.

DS is now feeding and falling asleep in my arms, bless him. I think I'm going to text DH and get him to bring me up a cup of tea and some chocolate biscuits Grin

squitza cluster feeding and changes in sleep are normal for your little one who is about a week old now I believe? They are nocturnal when born so don't recognise day and night straight away. If you can persevere with moses basket, swaddling, etc do - my ds still fights being wrapped at 13 weeks but it seems the tighter you hold them the more secure they feel. Watch baby closely for any tiny sign that it's working and keep doing it - if i'm doing something and ds's eyes start closing even for a second I keep doing it and eventually it works. Also if you can don't pick dd up as soon as she makes noise as she may go back to sleep - I always give ds a cuddle when I pick him up to check if he's hungry or if he just needs comforting. Oh and send your oh to the spare room! :)

cannot I think ds is teething too judging by the way he's chewing on his hands ( honestly don't know how he has any left! ) and he's only been doing short feeds - I read that feeding hurts their gums when teething because of blood flow or something! That said he now has a stuffy nose and cough so is all upside down :(

Writerwannabe83 · 28/09/2014 12:54

God I wish I knew how to make my DS take a nap!!!!!

He's been up 4 hours is clearly shattered but just won't sleep.

I've tried feeding him - didn't work.
I tried leaving him in his cot - didn't work.

I've got my interview first thing tomorrow and I know that if DS doesn't sleep during the day he will be an absolute monster tonight and will keep me up for hours Sad

squizita · 28/09/2014 13:27

Thanks Auntymaggie will try that! Grin

Cannotbelieveit · 28/09/2014 13:46

Ryder point blank refused his cot nap after his mid morning feed (probably something to do with DH trying to sleep in our room and I think him just being there disrupted DS), but he's gone down after his lunchtime feed. Been asleep just over 30 mins so far

After more attempts and me getting really frustrating at them failing I made DH take DS out in the car. DH was not impressed as he's watching the Golf Grin DS slept for about an hour though so at least that's something.

DH is in sole care of DS today whilst I hide myself upstairs to prepare for tomorrow. I'm really enjoying the peace!!!!

Just did a lie down feed and now trapped. DD has my left nipple clutched in her fist, asleep! Shock that would be a painful awakening lol!

AuntieMaggie · 28/09/2014 19:16

lol squitza - ds clutches handfuls of my flesh for comfort if he can't get hold if my top and that's normally my boob!

bumpiesonamission · 28/09/2014 19:23

Wait for the teeth!!!!!

Cannotbelieveit · 28/09/2014 19:55

DS fed and asleep by 7.10pm! Earlier bedtime so far! He's had calpol and nurofen today his gums/teeth are giving him so much trouble Sad

Writer Good luck! We are on the feed, nappy, basket cycle at the moment. DD is hysterical with rage at the whole thing. Apart from food.

Writerwannabe83 · 28/09/2014 21:17

As Sod's Law would have it, the one night I need DS to be good is the night he decides to play me up. After lots of grizzling, crying, boob refusal and screaming I have only just managed to get him off by endless rocking!!

Now I've got to do some revision before he next wakes up!! If I survive this interview tomorrow it will be a miracle!!!!

Cannotbelieveit · 28/09/2014 21:28

All the best for it Writer!! You'll have to update us tomorrow when you can Grin
