3 week old constantly on boob

So. My daughter is constantly on my boobs. She's uber unsettled afterwards too. During the day isn't bad but it's like she's on me for an hour ( x2 both sides) then hour later she's back again! Surely this isn't normal??? Nights are the worst too coz I'm so tired I just want to sleep. Any advice???

Has she been checked for a tongue tie? Is she latching ok, gaining weight?

Sounds very normal, assuming she's putty on weight and making plenty of wet and dirty nappies. Have you seen the kellymom website? Three weeks is a classic growth spurt age. kellymom.com/bf/normal/growth-spurts/ hang in there, it will pass and congratulations

They do this for comfort and also to build your supply.

No tongue tie. Latching excellent and good gain weight x

My LO is 17 days and I'm in a similar position....except he's a bit all over the place and can sometimes go 3 hours (tends to at night) but during the day it can be constant and usually when we've decided to head out for a while. I end up having to get my boob out everywhere.....he's been putting on weight constantly since day 1 so no worries there but sometimes I worry if I'm misinterpreting his cries when he's just tired or something....it's a minefield!!

I know what you mean. She's constantly on me. She's worse during the night. She co slept with me last night so I got a few hours here and there but i guess til she gets out this growth spurt it's gotta be this way. I'm with ya honey. You're not alone x

Sounds normal to me too.

I was warned DD might want to feed "as frequently as every hour or two" in the beginning. What they failed to mention was that she might want to feed for an hour or two every hour or two.

Which she did.

Thankfully she's now more efficient and takes 15 minutes or so or an hour with dozing if there's something good on telly and I don't want to move.

Still every 2 hours though

the nurse at our GP office told me that growth spurts/constant feeding are typicalle at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months. seemed to map fairly well to DD but ymmv.

totally normal at that age. Get some good books in!
