weaning and breast feeding

Hi all, my baby has been on solids for about a month and has now started eating much more at mealtimes, consequently she is taking less milk during feeds which is fine and to be expected I know. But the last few nights I've been waking up at about 3 am with one really full uncomfortable boob because she hasn't taken as much milk at her bedtime feed (I assume this is what is happening anyway! ). She has been sleeping through for months now so my boobs had settled down and stopped feeling full at night so I'm sure it's because her daytime feeds are cutting down that has suddenly caused this problem.

Do I express at 3 am as I did the other night or should I just put up with it and struggle to sleep?! Or express before bed although I tried that and couldn't get any out...

My right boob feels fuller now than my left one so I'm sure it's going to happen again tonight and I'm so tired I don't want to wake up at 3 am again! Sad

Can you give her a little bit from both sides at her last feed?
Also maybe give her a lighter meal in the evening as breast milk still very important. So maybe fewer carbs?
How old is she?

I always found it took 3 days for my boobs to get the message when demand changed, so might well be fine in the next day or so. I would avoid expressing as it will only encourage more milk production.

Make sure the discomfort is not something else (blocked duct/thrush) - but if you're sure it's just oversupply then a bag of frozen peas will help until your body adjusts.

She is 7 mo and dinner is usually just veg off our plate although last night it was toast and banana as we had takeaway. Her biggest meal is breakfast and dinner not as big. She has two milk feeds before real fast usually 2 or 3 during the day and one before bed but think she drinks less as the day goes on. Does that sound like enough milk I'm not sure now?

Anyway we made it to now 6 am before being uncomfortable so that's much better and she woke up for feed at the same time.

I'll try offering both sides before bed tonight

Thank you!
