Breastfeeding + antiperspirant - advice please

This is my first post but I'm a long time lurker…

I'm breastfeeding my DTs (3 weeks) and have got a bit of a sweaty problem (which I had with DD1 but not so badly) - worse now that the weather has warmed up a bit! Blush
I'm using Bionsen roll-on as it is aluminium free but it is not really cutting it for me! So I wondered if anyone could recommend something effective but still breastfeeding compatible? Or am I worrying for no reason about aluminium in the first place?

Also, I can't remember how long I was sweaty for with DD1 - is this something which will pass soon or am I in for the long haul?

TIA.

I just use normal deodorant, I didnt know you couldnt??

I personally wouldn't be worried about conventional antiperspirants and BF (unless you're applying it to your nipples), especially if it's just to tide you through a sweaty period, though if you're concerned you could go for something that's not high in aluminium rather than completely aluminium free. This seems pretty sensible/non-alarmist (though only lists US brands):

I do remember the sweats were horrendous in the first few weeks postpartum both times, then it definitely calmed down.

Should I have actually worried? I bf dd for 18mo and she's 3yo now. I just use Mitchum.

I think aluminium has been 'linked' to breast cancer, but has not been 100% proven. That's why I avoid it anyway.

Please don't worry about deodorant and bf.

The deo goes onto your skin, not into your blood. It can't reach the milk in any measurable amounts.

Try to ask the experts first if you are too worried about it. But based on my experience I'm EBF, putting deodorant is not a problem, it does not harm my DD. :)

Thanks for all your advice. I think I'll go with a standard product to see if that improves things.
I agree it seems unlikely that anything would get through to the milk anyway, sometimes it's so easy (for me, anyway) to get caught up in trying to do the "right" thing all the time...
Hopefully I'll be back to normal soon anyway Smile
