How do i wind a baby?

having real difficulty as baby holds on but then wont settle for ages as must be in pain how do i wind her?, DH has the knack but i cant seem to do it any hints?, thanks

lol my ds won't wind for me at all..... just for dp

there are several ways to do it, on your shoulder, across your knees or sitting on your lap.... the only important thing is that you're holding them in such a way that their oesophogus is in a straight line so the air can get up easily, this means holding them so their upper body and head are as straight as possible. patting the back doesn't help the winding but it is a soothing gesture and can help them relax so they burp more easily

I used to walk up a flight of stairs with her over my shoulder. Worked nearly every time.

i used to lay mine with their head in my hand and tummy along my forearm with arms and legs dangling and rock backwards and forwards.

failing that over my knee laying tummy down and rubbing the back.
