Quick question about giving EBM

Writerwannabe83 · 13/08/2014 11:14

Over the last few days I have been expressing 2-3oz each time in order to have a small stash today.

At the moment all expressions are in separate bottles I.e the bottle I expressed in to on that given day.

My question is can I mix all 3 separate expressions together in one bottle it do they need to be kept separate?

It's probably a silly question but it's my first time of storing and giving EBM.

Thanks in advance.

You can mix them - as long as you're aware how old the oldest milk is and use that as your 'use by date'.

The first amount I expressed was Saturday afternoon - is it still ok to use?

Surely it would be better to keep the 2-3oz bits separate rather than putting it all into a big bottle? Breastfed babies tend to feed little and often.

Even most 5 month old breastfed babies eat little and often, the amounts they consume doesn't increase with age like formula. With smaller bottles you're likely to have less waste - kellymom has some good information on bottle feeding breastfed babies.

Yes you'd do better to feed him the oldest 2oz first and so on.
