How can i get my 4.5 month old to feed more in the day (and less at night!)?

DS is 4.5 months old ebf. He has until recently been fairly easy as far as feeding and sleeping go, but that has all changed in the last week or so and he is now feeding 3 times in the night (up from 1). I wouldn't mind too much, and would assume a growth spurt except I suspect he is making up at night for what he should be having in the day. It seems as if in the day he just wants to play! He'll take a few sucks, just enough to take the edge off his hunger, and that's it - nothing I do will encourage him to have any more. It is so frustrating and starting to get me down. I have tried feeding somewhere quiet, but I have a toddler, so not easy! He will only have a good feed when sleepy it would seem.
Anybody experienced this? Any tips? Please tell me it gets better!

Four month fussies is very common. The article from this link may have some ideas, it is a phase that will pass but yes trying to cut down on the distractions is the key really breastfeeding.support/fussy-baby-at-4-months/

Thanks, that article makes total sense! I've done better today at managing to keep him focused, so we'll see what tonight brings!
