so when my son was born he was early and only 5lbs 4oz and latched on for the first breastfeed but wouldnt latch on again after that, I ended up expressing but also had to give him a top up of formula.

he fed every 2 hours so once he was fed I had to express for half an hour, then wash the bottle, sterilize ect and by the time id sat down it was nearly time for another feed! anyways I ended up losing alott of weight because when id done everything I just wanted to lie down and overall I was hardly eating anything, so I stopped and switched to formula after about 5 weeks.

he was mostly drinking breast milk but sometimes is have to make formula instead but I was just wondering will the small amount of breast milk he got benefit him at all? or because he wasnt exclusively BF would it have made no difference than
if he was exclusively formula fed?

he is over 1 now but I'm just looking back and wondering..

Any amount of breastmilk is beneficial, particularly in the very earl days. You'll have passed on antibodies. So yes, any amount of breastfeeding is worth it however much you do.
