breast feeding/formular feeding

Hi, i'm a first time mum, my baby is 11 months on sunday and am about to return to work weekends only but he still breast feeding and i need some advice if its ok to give him cows milk or formulae milk while am at work, not sure which is best, or expressing.

my HV told me to give cows milk when he was 11/1/2 months :) alot easier than making up formula as well :)
