Time to change teats?

After a steep learning curve yesterday where I left DS with DH for the first time for a whole day. It has become clear that DS is now so used to being an efficient 6min feeder on me that when we need to give him an exbottle with Medela Calmer Teat, he is too lazy to feed past 3oz (found this out as dh took the limited off and he drained the bottle!! We are now having a conversation about whether its time to change bottles/teats. DS is 6months old. A great breast feeder and I want to make sure he can take enough from a bottle so I can feel comfortable leaving him again (yesterday was fun for me at times but worrying too!)

Has anyone had the same issue with the Calmer teats and if so, what did you do? Anyone got any advice about teats?

3oz is probably about what he'd take from a breastfeed, so it may just be the amount he is used to? A breastfed baby takes less milk than a formula fed baby, about 1-1.5oz an hour for expressed breastmilk.

So how can he get his 20oz they say he needs. maybe why he wakes every 2hrs at night!

We use dr browns teats. Changed up to level 2 at 5 months, now at ten months level 3. I would say give it a go. They can get a bit spluttery as they try it the first time but they very quickly regulate it.

I was amazed that my tiny mouse eater baby suddenly drank lots more and was more settled :)

I think 20oz is for formula - is he having formula or expressed breastmilk? How many times/how often does he feed?

He's ebf with an expressed bottle about once a week but thinking about bottle a night with dream feed as we have started weaning and he is feeding a lot less during the day but waking every 2hrs at night for a full feed from me.
