Stopped breastfeeding - when will breasts settle down?

Hi,

I stopped breastfeeding two days ago, had to go cold turkey. Before that I was feeding about 8 times in 24 hours.

My breasts are still over full but no leaking at all. Is this normal? And when will the risk of mastitis go away? and when will they settle?

(I've been doing all the usual hacks: Cabbage leaves, Benadryl, Sage Tea and B6 vitamins)

Could you express? Maybe 6 times in 24 hours. Then 5 times, then 4 times etc...just to take the pressure off and make it more gradual for your body? Might make mastitis less likely. I'm sure other more experienced posters can offer better advice. I'm still Bf and weaning so watching with interest...
