bfing sling

can anyone recommend a good sling for bfing in? I think that this isn't possible from birth...(am I right?) but I would like the option of doing this with DC2 from November, leaving me as hands free as possible to run after DS who will be 2.4yo.

I can't see how to do it safely from birth really, not handsfree/while doing other things anyway.

Once they have good head control then a ring sling is pretty good though - you just have them upright tummy to tummy and loosen the ring to lower to boob height.

Have bought a baby carrier but I don't think it would work for nursing so looking for a sling for at home so I can waste time on the internet/channel flicking and put food in my face with both hands keep the house spick and span.

I think it's not recommended till about six months-ish - risk of suffocation. I saw a sling consultabt lady who was very clear that she didn't recommend. I think my DD was about ten weeks then.

You can breastfeed in the closer caboo which is suitable from birth but tbh bf takes a lot of practice and you probably couldn't just sling baby in and feed right from day one. Once you get the hang of the sling and of bf thought it'd be a great sling to use.

I BF in a wrap sling (Kari-me) - through necessity rather than choice, e.g. On the way to pick older child up from preschool once when I couldn't be late but baby needed a feed. It was fine as the sling supports the baby so well.

For safety you need to be able to see the baby clearly without having to move fabric, have their face uncovered and airway clear and ensure their back is supported and they aren't curled up with chin on chest.

I've done it with a fabric wrap (Moby wrap style) and a Connecta sling. Both require a bit of wrangling to move baby into the lower position but then he feeds quite happily.

I wouldn't expect him to feed this way while I get on with other tasks as they do need a bit more supervision and support to make sure they're in a safe and comfortable position. But it's quite handy when you're out and about and don't want to faff around removing them from the sling to feed and then putting them back in again. Still have to faff around a bit but not so much :)

There are videos on YouTube with demonstrations if you want some help. I should probably take a look myself to learn the "official" way, but I tend to just try things out myself and do whatever feels right.
