Short feeds - is she getting enough?

My 14 w/o lately only breastfeeds for really short periods during the day - about 5 minutes at a time, every 2 or 3 hours. I've always had quite a ferocious letdown (spraying and leaking a lot ) but I often don't feel very 'empty' after a feed. She seems healthy and happy and is filling nappies etc but I'm worried she's not filling her tummy. Anyone else have experience of this?

I used to worry about this as well. My DD is 7 months old and her longest feed to date has been 12 minutes, 6 minutes average and only ever from one boob per session. I never understood those people who spent the early weeks constantly feeding tho am sad I missed out on the box sets. She is thriving and in 90th percentile.

My lo is almost 13 weeks and during the day has only 5 mins bursts mainly, people I have spoke to have said they are just more efficient at getting what they need! X

My ds is 13 weeks and only feeds 5 mins per boob and often only one boob per session. He also feeds every 2-3 hours. He's a small baby (9th centile) but is putting on weight and filling nappies as well as being alert etc so am trying not to worry. Lik you I have a big milk supply and still leak a lot so I think he can get a large amount out in a small amount of time; plus he's not into comfort feeding (will refuse boob unless hungry) so just gets what he needs then wants to move on. My tip is not to battle a baby who doesn't want to feed anymore - they will let you know when they need more!
