8 Month old breastfeeding question

I only bf my ds1 for 3 months, so am a bit confused with how much my ds2 should be feeding at 8 months. He only feeds for about 5 minutes, 10 if he's having a really good feed. He is on 3 meals a day and drinks water from a cup. Is this normal? Any experiences would be much appreciated.

First of all, well done for keeping the feed ing going so long!
I don't think there are any rules tbh. If he's having plenty of food and water, he's bound to feed less - mine fluctuated wildly at this age. Some days they fed lots and didn't want much food, other days they hardly fed at all and ate tons of solid food. If you think he's getting enough to eat (and, crucially to drink), if he's got plenty of energy and he's alert and happy and has lots of wet and dirty nappies then he's doing fine. My ds gradually fed less and less from about 9 months and gave up completely at 11.5. Maybe yours is going along the same path.

hi I fed both mine until about 16 mths, and they do get to be very efficient at feeding the older they are.

Mine both fed at breakfast, lunch, mid-afternoon snack, dinner, and prebed at 8 mths. They whole process took about 5 - 10 min. When they were on 3 meals, they dropped from having both sides to only one. But then they have fast metabolisms ! Eat loads now (at 2 & 5) and run around with boundless energy.

As with curlew, I agree if he has energy, "good" nappies and eating & drinking in addition. No need to worry.
