Breastfeeding and weight loss

I know this has probably been done to death but:
In your experience did breastfeeding help you to lose weight?
If yes was it just baby / pregnancy weight or did it exceed baby pregnancy weight?

Obviously I want to breastfeed baby for the health benefits for little one but weight loss would be a bonus, especially since I have developed love handles I never had before :-S

I am EBF my son who had just turned 6 months old.

I weigh less now than I did before I was pregnant Grin

I had put on 3 stone by the end of my pregnancy and was dreading how I would shift it but over the months it just fell off.

I don't have scales in the house so I can't weigh myself but I do know that my pre-pregnancy skinny jeans are now much too big for me Grin

I used to wear size 10 clothes but I now have to buy size 8.

Whether I will naturally go back up to my 'normal' weight when I stop BF I don't know. hope not Grin

I didn't lose much for the first 6 -12months I was eating lots to keep my supply healthy. After 12 months I went back to eating normally/dieting and it dropped off big time I'm 4 or 5 stone lighter than pre-pregnancy.

Ds is 9 days old and my tummy is gone way, way down. I remember those after pains while he fed on days 1-4, they were almost as bad as labour pains Shock

I need to lose about a stone and a half but I am absolutely starving and I think it's the bf. I'm trying my best to make sure I get my calories from fruit, veg, whole grains etc but people keep calling with biscuits cries

It's coming off, but my god it's slow. Like a pound a month slow.

Having said that, as of today I can fit into my most generous-fitting pre-pregnancy jeans, so that's given me a lift.

And I'm eating to hunger, and that involves shed loads of cake. I watched my calories at the beginning, but that made my body hold on to the weight, so I ditched that pretty quick.

Nope, but my god, my appetite was huge!

Eat the biscuits FoodieMum. Please. Otherwise there is a very real danger that I will track them down by scent and eat them for you.

Seriously though, 5 months of EBF, back to pre-preg weight and then some but CANNOT kick the biscuit habit! If I stop BFing I'm screwed.
