Refusal of formula

Have breastfed 7mo ds & would like him to go onto formula for daytime feeds as he'll be starting nursery in October. Problem is that he absolutely refuses to drink any formula milk & will just hold out for a breast feed. Really starting to panic as nursery start date is looming & hoping sombody can help.

I had a similar prob at 8 months when my DS had never had anything but breast milk and found that DS didnt like the formula I tried. I tried aptimel first, then when he refused it, tried it myself and it tasted discusting and a bit fishy!!!

I bought afew of the ready made cartons of different formulas and found one that he liked and just stuck with that (it was SMA progress but guess they are all different). Also waited til he was hungry the first few times so that he was more willing to co-oporate!

Thanks for your advice Dragonhart. Have only given him Aptimil so far, but will try some different brands. Fingers crossed ....

He could go without a b/ffed in the day, thus avoiding the issue entirely.
My dd did at roughly same age and it worked fine.

agree with moondog I gave up offering ds ff quite quickly as he wasn't interested and stopped the lunchtime feed gave him water along with his meal then added cows milk at 12m.

wigan, he'll be fine at 8 months not having milk in the day, if you are bf him when you are with him. He can have water from a cup to ensure he doesn't get thirsty. It's not worth fretting about, IMHO, ad certainly not worth a panic
