Sleeping baby while breastfeeding

I am pregnant with my second baby and really want to make breastfeeding work this time.

Last time the only issue was that my baby would fall asleep within a minute or two of feeding, sleep for 30 mins and then start all over again. She never really got a proper feed and therefore was feeding the whole time. So at 7 weeks I transferred over to bottle and was shewas fine, she was awake the whole feed.

I tried keeping her awake in every way known to man (standing outside in the snow with her in a nappy and she was still fast asleep) so really just looking for any thoughts if I get another snoozer.

Has anyone else had this problem and what have they done?

Thanks,

I think this is pretty normal at first, they just feed and doze! With my second I didn't have quite so much time to sit around with a suckling baby on me so to speed things up a bit I would just switch sides every time she stopped actively sucking.

Kato, hope things go well this time.

The pattern you describe can be on the normal spectrum - it can be fine for babies to feed in short bursts, and you'd need to give more info (weight, overall well-being etc) and whether she did this literally all the time.

Sleeping instead of feeding is worrying if the baby is not thriving.
