Combination feeding

Is anyone doing this? Apologies if this is on another thread!

DS is 6 months old, and bf. He is still waking in the night, but only once. I work 4 hours every morning and was wondering whether or not to give this a try.

At the moment, my routine is roughly like this:

7.00 - bf then breakfast
10.30 - bottle - formula
12.00 - lunch
1.30 - bf
3.30 - bf
5.00 tea and bf
7.00 - bottle and bed

IF he wakes during the night, then bf.

I am trying to incresae my supply to keep up the EBM, but my supply in the freezer is dwindling at the moment.

I have just worked out that it wil cost about £130 for formula until ds is 1 year and can have cows milk.

Any help greatly appreciated

L x

I've done combined feeding when was back at work part-time and it worked fine. As long as you keep the breast-feeding going more than the bottles, I think you can carry on for as long as you like. The only danger is if the baby decides he prefers the bottle (more milk, more quickly) and starts to reject the breast - this happened with my second a bit at around 8 months, though not the first. If he's eating well, and still waking in a couple of months, I'd try and stop the nighttime feeding, btw.
