(Extended?) breastfeeding - how often?

My 11mo DD asks for milk morning and bedtime only now (and occasionally when upset by something) and I would like to continue to be able to nurse her until she doesn't want it any more. If I only nurse twice a day will I loose my milk supply? At the moment I encourage her to have a little milk during the day too, which she is very happy to have when offered, but doesn't demand. Any thoughts wise MNetters?

Your supply will adjust. I've been feeding morning and evening for months without a problem. I can even do the odd daytime feed still if I need to.

It will be fine. Went back to work at 7 months, my supply adjusted. At 11 months was 2 feeds a day quickly dropping to ken night time feed, and then that was dropped at 14 months. All through my supply adjusted itself.

Thanks, I find that really reassuring :) I was hoping that after feeding her for this long the milk would be able to sort itself out as required!

Sounds fine. At the end DS wasn't even nursing once a day. Supply is really very different after about 6-8 months of breastfeeding. Follow her cues :)

I've been feeding twice a day - morning and evening - for the last 2 months (DD also 11mo) and my supply adjusted really quickly. Felt a bit engorged once or twice but that was it.
