bleeding breast

Ive got leaky boobs, but on one breast Ive been getting a small amount of bright red blood mixed in with the 'milk'. I cant feel any lumps in my breast or nipple. Im 34 week pregnant. I get a fresh bleed, then it goes to pink/orange, then clears up. It happened about 3 weeks ago, then cleared up in a few days, and today gave me a shock when it started up again.

Mentioned it to consultant obs, but he didnt seem too worried. He refered me to the breast clinic, but Ive not had anything through. Im going to the GP on weds, but am just a bit worried.

I can see a very slight crack in my nipple, but nothing obvious, and the blood seems to be coming from where i cant see it, not on the surface. It is only coming from one duct on my left breast.

I stopped breastfeeing my daughter when she was 14 months old, so 2 and a half years ago. We didnt ever have any trouble breastfeeding, and nothing like this. Im worried it is something serious, or that I wont be able to bf my new baby when he arrives. It is so important to me to bf. I cant feel any lumps, apart from the normal swollen milk glands, the nipples is a bit sore...

Help?

Hi, I probably can't help but can let you know of a great website that helped me. Something like radicalmidwives. Sounds radical, but any topic I couldn't find on other websites, I found there. It can be scary (jargon) and informative.

I had tiny blood blisters come up on my breast outside the nipple. Some are still there and are harmless- due to the increased blood supply apparently.they look similar to ducts/pimple-like, but are red.

I think you should try not to let it bother you, but get it checked out like the doctor said.

It may be related to the crack- a small infection maybe? I breastfed through mastitis when my little one was days old. He had an infection under his fingernail then scratched me when he was feeding.

The fact that you can't find any lumps is a relief.

The tenderness would indicate and infection if it is above average soreness. If you get any wooziness or flu-like symptoms, or if you have a swollen gland which seems to be hot, go to the GP straight away because it would be mastitis.

...it was a cyst in my breast which had burst. I got to see a specialist yesterday.

Im not comfortable, but at least it was nothing serious!

radical midwives sounds interesting, Ill have to check them out.

thanks for the infor
