Ds stopped accepting bottles of ebm at around 4mo despite being offered daily. We introduced food at 5.5mo as I was going to work 20hrs a week from 6mo and introduced formula in porridge to keep his milk intake up.
He's now 10.5mo and a really good eater and proficient although a bit messy with a TT free flow sippy cup. Still bf at bedtime, once in the night, breakfast time and occasionally around 4pm.
Last week I was travelling for work till 10pm one day and dh put ds to bed after a cup of warm formula and he slept till 5am. Today I offered a bf when ds was hungry at 5pm as dinner was delayed and he quite strongly rejected it in favour of a snack instead. I feel that the time has come to move gently towards ending bf.
I am thinking we might offer a cup of formula after bath and follow up with a short bf only if necessary. Still bf in the night if required and offer at breakfast but not push it. Does this seem reasonable? Has anybody got experience of ending bf for a bottle-refuser at this age??
Thanks.
