Part 3!

Quick recap - DS, 17 weeks, EBF (stubborn little bottle refuser), crap sleeper! Super knackered Mummy, surviving on 1-2 hour sleeps :(

So I am hoping for a better night tonight seeing as bedtime went smoothly. Last night was hideous and I've eaten a twirl, a bounty and a salted caramel brownie today just to get through the day!

Dh took the baby at 10 and I napped till 1.40 ish. Sounds like to short a nap when you write it down! But I feel better for it.

ChaffinchOfMegalolz · 07/09/2014 16:32

hi writer and cariad
he's breast, in our room in his cot, and must admit I don't bother trying to settle him if he yells in the night, I always shove him on the boob...

don't want him to disturb the rest of the family... dh works a stressy job; and other dc need sleep for school.

hmm. maybe he isn't actually hungry. he's off into his own room as soon as other dc bedroom furniture arrives... 11 days and counting....

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2014 16:51

We are all guilty of shoving crying babies on our boobs Grin

Has he ever had a dummy?? My DS used to have one which was brilliant for soothing him back to sleep (when I knew he wasn't hungry) but he refuses to have one now Sad

DS is approaching the age where he can go into his own room and I'm dreading it - I will really miss him!!

Cariad007 · 07/09/2014 19:32

DS never liked the dummy up until a few days ago. Now it really seems to soothe him, but I don't know how that'll last. He's nearly 7 months now so old enough to go into his own room but I'm not ready for that yet! He's still waking up for feeds in the night so it makes sense to have him in the cot next to me until he stops doing that. In my family's culture children are kept in their parents room for longer too. I was in with my parents until I was over 4, although I won't be doing it for as long as that!

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2014 19:52

My DH is desperate for DS to go into the nursery but I just can't face it - he is still my little baby Smile We have decided to do it at the end of October when DH has a week off work.

I'm doing DS's bedtime feed now which is much earlier than normal but he seemed so tired I thought I'd best grab the opportunity!!

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2014 20:38

Well he slept for 40 minutes and then woke up crying.

I can't face another night like last one.

Cannotbelieveit · 07/09/2014 21:11

Oh writer :-(

DS woke after 10 mins and I was cursing as I had a sink full of washing up to do, thankfully he went back off with his dummy (for now) let's see of we even make it to midnight as last night he fed at 11.45pm which was his worst ever even compared to newborn days! Shock

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2014 21:18

I've sent him back downstairs with DH to give me a break and meanwhile I'm sitting here in silence with a cup of tea. I just don't understand why DS is so difficult at night - I have posted in the Sleep forum to ask others for help/advice if it's something they have experience of.

I preferred it when he was a newborn as although he needed frequently at least he slept in between and it meant I could get some sleep too. I'm more jacketed and stressed now with regards to DS's sleeping then I ever was when he was younger. I thought things were supposed to get easier, not harder Sad

Cannotbelieveit · 07/09/2014 21:34

Totallly know how you feel compared to newborn days'!! It's more perplexing to me as he slept thru from 4 weeks and now this bloody regression has taken us back again and I find it hard to believe it'll improve

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2014 21:37

I have lost all hope of things improving. They have been getting gradually worse for weeks and weeks and now, 7 weeks after his regression started, I have just lost the energy to stay hopeful.

I told DH that once I had finished my cup of tea I would go downstairs and collect DS and attempt to get him to sleep again but I just can't face doing it Sad

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2014 21:54

I went downstairs to get him, didn't speak to him, didn't make any eye contact, just carried him straight upstairs, placed him in his cot and walked away. He fidgeted for a bit but there hasn't been any sound or movement for 5 minutes now. I'm too scared to look because if he is asleep I may scream with happiness!!!

Cannotbelieveit · 07/09/2014 21:57

Fx writer Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2014 22:01

Just had a peep and he's asleep Grin. YAY!

I'm guessing he will be up again by 1am though!! - but at least he's quiet for now Smile

cookielove · 07/09/2014 22:38

Oh yay writer

We went to my folks for dinner tonight, came back and put ds straight to bed. He touch wood has stayed asleep and isn't making the awful blocked up noises he was last night. Hoping he will sleep till 1ish for his next feed. Currently pumping then will try and sleep myself!

AuntieMaggie · 07/09/2014 22:38

Yay writer :)

DS went to sleep at 9:30 but woke again at 10 - tried giving him formula when he was half asleep but no luck so gave up and now I'm feeding him. Got a feeling tonight's going to be one of those nights...

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2014 23:06

I'm usually up about 1am too cookie - he tends to go back to sleep quite quickly after that feed though. And just as a matter if interest, I read today that breast milk that is pumped off at night should be kept separate from breast milk pumped off during the day and they should be labelled so night milk is given at night time and day milk is given during the day. Apparently there are hormones in the nighttime milk which induce sleep which is why expressed night milk should always be given at night as opposed to expressed day milk being given which doesn't contain the sleepy hormone Smile

I hope you don't have a bad night Auntmaggie - I think the unpredictability is what makes things worse. DS had been asleep for well over an hour but I'm still too scared to try and sleep myself as I feel like I'm constantly just expecting him to wake up.

Cannotbelieveit · 08/09/2014 00:05

Oh well been feeding DS for 25 mins so far!!

cookielove · 08/09/2014 00:42

That's interesting writer he has always been given his expressed milk during the day!

Cannotbelieveit · 08/09/2014 03:26

Feeding again Shock

cookielove · 08/09/2014 03:45

Me too, I haven't been asleep since the last one :(

Writerwannabe83 · 08/09/2014 03:48

And do you find he sleeps well in the day cookie? Grin

Oh dear cannot - you'll probably find he has jumped a few centiles when you next get him weighed. Smile

I'm up feeding DS but he went nearly 6 hours which is amazing for him lately!!

Writerwannabe83 · 08/09/2014 03:50

How come you haven't slept cookie?? Do you struggle to nod back off?

AuntieMaggie · 08/09/2014 04:46

Must be something in the air writer - I am just giving ds his first feed so 6 hours here!

Cannotbelieveit · 08/09/2014 06:02

He's whinging for a feed again??! I'm ignoring for a bit as I may as well get up for the day in a while!

Writerwannabe83 · 08/09/2014 07:09

I think I'm up for the day and I'm so tired. It took me almost two hours to fall back to sleep after DS finished feeding at 4am!! DS is now awake again so slthough he went another 3 hours I only slept for one of them Sad

I'm going up feed him now and see if he will go back to sleep...
