Part 3!

Quick recap - DS, 17 weeks, EBF (stubborn little bottle refuser), crap sleeper! Super knackered Mummy, surviving on 1-2 hour sleeps :(

So I am hoping for a better night tonight seeing as bedtime went smoothly. Last night was hideous and I've eaten a twirl, a bounty and a salted caramel brownie today just to get through the day!

Well done cariad.

I think I'm ready to get a sleep specialist in. DS is just getting worse and worse!

Is there a growth spurt at 6mnths?

Cariad007 · 05/08/2014 09:01

If you google The Wonder Weeks you'll see that there is a developmental "leap" at around the 5-6 month mark so it could be that.

Cannotbelieveit · 05/08/2014 09:30

That's great cariad! Good sleep again from Ryder. 9.5hrs again. Though DS1 was up 2-3x per hour from 11-5 with his teeth hurting/coming thru Sad

bumpiesonamission · 05/08/2014 10:27

I have wonder weeks app, we are coming to the end of a leap. My nipples are going to fall off and I am falling asleep whilst on the loo!!

mrsmugoo · 05/08/2014 12:26

Same as yesterday here - fed at 4am and he went back down in his cot. He took a while to go back to sleep so I lifted him - he did a massive burp and then went straight off - he rarely burps ever! He slept til 7:15… I ignored his shuffling and I think he went back to sleep because I woke again at 8:00 and he was quiet til 8:15 - winner!

urg I want a baby swap. I am loosing faith in ebf. I just need some sleep!!!

mrsmugoo · 05/08/2014 18:51

Don't think that FF would necessarily be a cure-all bumpies... Just think of all the washing up and sterilising!

After holding it in all weekend, DS did the mother of all poonamis this morning - went all the way up his back as he was in the bouncy chair too. He followed this with the mother of all tantrums while I was cleaning him up! I was exhausted by the time I got his nappy on but then he fed to sleep for an hour, woke up for a couple of hours and then dropped off during feeding again and slept til 5pm! My plans to go exploring our new area had to be ditched but I was glad of the peace tbh. However he's now grumpy again and wide awake but hopefully will sleep tonight. DP has been sleeping in the spare room for a few days and is looking like a new man as he's having unbroken nights' sleep for the first time since February!

puggywug81 · 06/08/2014 07:39

Lots of tired eyes here. Since Fin has been teething he no longer sleeps through he now wakes up 4 or 5 times a night and his cold is making it worse. I'm not sure if he's waking out of habit now or pain on his gums. Whichever it is he won't settle without his dummy and my hand to hold.

bumpiesonamission · 06/08/2014 11:01

Z's lost all ability to sleep. Tried a dream feed and he took 4oz but woke 2.5hrs later. DH is talking about pupd and cc. I know I whinge and I need sleep but I'm scared to hurt him emotionally Sad

Can't win! currently having epic nap!

Cariad007 · 06/08/2014 20:00

DS has been a bloody nightmare today - screaming blue murder unless I was carrying or feeding him. He isn't I'll so I'm not sure what's wrong with him. Maybe it's just that he has to get used to the new flat. At one point today I actually burst into tears because he was screaming and I looked at my phone and saw a text from my manager at work saying that the Amazon deliveries which should have come to my home were delivered to the office instead, FML!!!

mrsmugoo · 06/08/2014 20:32

Yes Cariad - Edward has been exactly the same! All he wants to do is be held standing/upright or feed. If I pop him down on his mat he screeches and has a tantrum until he's picked up. I've put my back out picking him up! The only time he isn't screeching is when we go out for a walk - so out we've been!

I'm starting to think about weaning him in a couple of weeks - I just can't keep up with his feeding, he's feeding like a newborn again!

Bit of an annoying night

He gets a dreamfeed at 10:30 - he'll do a decent feed off both sides then so I know he's tanked up.

He was grizzling for food at 2 and then again at 5:30 and up for the day at 7

I really want to drop him down to no more than 2 feeds over his bedtime period of 7-7

He isn't waking our of habit and I always leave him to give him the chance to go back to sleep himself when he wakes but as I have no other way of getting him back to sleep when he won't do it himself, if he grizzles, he has to be fed.

I don't want to give up the dreamfeed as that is what is getting me an initial 3-5 hour block of sleep and keeping me sane!

Arg frustrating Mrs. How old us lo now?

I actually woke up in my own bed today!! First time in forever!! And to DHs alarm.

Don't be fooled into thinking it is because lo didn't wake, he woke at 8, 10:30, 11:50, 2:30, 4:40 and then when dh got in the shower at 6:40Envy Envy but I have put a co sleeping ban in as it was helping and although after the 2:30 and 4:40 Z was chatting. I LEFT HIM TO IT!!!!! I am quite proud of myself!!!!!!!

Cariad007 · 07/08/2014 12:12

DS was up at 7am today, I can't wait til my blackout curtains arrive! I to him for a walk and he screamed for a solid half hour before falling asleep. I don't know why as he wasn't wet and I'd just fed him. Once he fell asleep I treated myself to a coffee but a gin would've been more appropriate!

mrsmugoo · 08/08/2014 02:29

Awake at 2am again after an 11pm dreamfeed and I'm just not having it!

At 5 months he needs to be going longer than 3 hours without feeding in the night.

It's white noise on and back patting/stroking to settle him back off.

Fingers crossed we're nipping this in the bud.

After waking from his afternoon nap at 530pm yesterday, DS didn't sleep again til nearly 11pm! He slept ok though but is still whingey this morning and doing my head in!!!

Writerwannabe83 · 08/08/2014 17:05

Hi all,

I've been away for a week and just caught up on everyone's 'progress' and I see all the usual trials and tribulations are still going on Smile

It has been a nightmare whilst I've been away as it was a big family trip and there were 4 children there - and between them and all the daily trips out and activities etc, DS barely napped at all during the day. The nights were just horrendous.....him screaming and screaming for hours on end, and then waking 2-3 times a night...it was just draining. I actually co-slept for 3 of the 6 nights to see if that would help but it didn't at all, if anything it made DS worse as every time be flinched in his sleep some part of his body would hit against me and he'd wake himself up.

It was just a nightmare - never again!!

We got back last night and once back in his own cot he slept for 5 hours before waking for a feed and then slept another 3 hours. I think he's making up all for all his missed naps today as he's had 3 so far today (all of them ranging from 1-1.5 hours) and he looks like he's about to drop off again - DH has taken him for a walk to try and induce the sleep Smile

Cariad007 · 08/08/2014 19:37

Yikes Writer, that doesn't sound like much of a holiday! I'm rather glad I decided against a summer holiday with DS now. Poor you, you'll need a holiday by yourself to recover from that!

Writerwannabe83 · 08/08/2014 23:05

It was bloody awful!!

His final nap today was just over 2 hours so he's napped for 4.5 hours today - he was barely getting an hour a day during the 'holiday' is this is much better.

I took him upstairs for his bedtime feed at 9pm and he was asleep by 21.45pm. He has taken to waking at 4am lately and having a big feed so I expect that to happen tonight too.

I have been down loading baby related Apps tonight, one of which is used to track babies feeds, naps and nappies - it's great!!

I have also downloaded the Wonder Weeks App so I can be prepared for future tough times.

DS has got his 3rd set of jabs next Tuesday and I'm already dreading it - he was horrendous after his 2nd lot.

BeanyIsPregnant · 08/08/2014 23:06

Erm.. Hi!
ignore the name, I now have a baby!
Ds is 2 days old, and I'm exhausted. He's just started cluster feeding and it's killing me.. Also have 18mo dd to look after.. Argh!

BeanyIsPregnant · 08/08/2014 23:08

writer ohh, what's the app called that tracks feeds and nappies etc? Currently trying to keep track in my notepad unsuccessfully!

Writerwannabe83 · 08/08/2014 23:20

It is just called Baby Tracker -mobile mom. The App image is green.

Writerwannabe83 · 08/08/2014 23:22

Forgot to say a huge congratulations on your new baby!!! Anyone who can care for a newborn whilst already having a toddler deserves a medal in my eyes!!! Maybe even an OBE!

BeanyIsPregnant · 08/08/2014 23:28

Ohh just downloaded it, something new to play with! Thank you Flowers although Tbf.. You have to just survive.. and I don't feel like I am!
