Part 3!

Quick recap - DS, 17 weeks, EBF (stubborn little bottle refuser), crap sleeper! Super knackered Mummy, surviving on 1-2 hour sleeps :(

So I am hoping for a better night tonight seeing as bedtime went smoothly. Last night was hideous and I've eaten a twirl, a bounty and a salted caramel brownie today just to get through the day!

Really feel for you guys who can't get back to sleep yourselves xxxx

mrsmugoo · 16/07/2014 07:47

This little monster took ages to drop off when I put him back down, culminating in some cot gymnastics with him on his belly, face wedged against the bars looking rather sheepish! So I brought him in with me and we both slept until 7:30am.

Those struggling to get back to sleep - I put lavender oil on my aroma-stone for relaxation. I also have dates and nuts on my night stand for snacks as hunger often stops me sleeping. Last night wearing an eye mask and ear plugs really helped too.

Was up for the day at 6.30, sympathies to all the poor sleepers. Fingers crossed for the jabs.

Cariad007 · 16/07/2014 09:37

Ds and I finally drifted off around 6.30am and woke up at about 9am. I feel human again!

KateTheShrew · 16/07/2014 10:22

Morning all. Sympathies to those who had bad nights and struggled with insomnia (I know what that's like!) It sounds like there were quite a lot of you Sad

Thanks for all the support and suggestions re DS's screaming. I think it was teething. We gave him some calpol last night, just in case, as he was still very unsettled and hard to put to bed. And while the early part of the night was difficult (didn't get him down until 9.30, lots of crying, then woke up grizzling for feeds at 10.45 and 2.15) after the 2.15 feed he (and I!) slept until nearly 8am Shock Shock Shock And...

... this morning there is a very obvious white bump on his upper gum where yesterday there was nothing. So I think the poor wee soul has had really sore gums. Hopefully it will pop through soon and he'll feel a bit better although of course he'll start biting me again then

Wherehasmysleepgone · 16/07/2014 15:05

Thanks writer I would be shocked if he weighed that much we estimated 18lbs but we will see tomorrow.
He had a better night last night but still not great, less wakes to be settled if you see what I mean!

cannot I share your excitement as I have been thinking about a new hoover too as I hate mine, it was the worst purchase! Need something easy to use on stairs etc....Havent quite got around to buying one though!

Sorry to all those who struggle getting back to sleep, its bad enough having the tough nights we are having let along not being able to drift back off Sad

Teething sucks, my lo has one each side of his gums Sad Am pleased to hear its not night terrors kate and you managed some good sleep this morn Smile

puggywug81 · 16/07/2014 18:37

Jabs went well, Fin was a brave little soldier he hardly cried at all!

However he is still suffering with his teething, hoping everyone has a good night tonight.

Batmam · 16/07/2014 22:21

Just checking in. Tonight I have a plan. I'm going to make sure DS has a full enough feed before I put him back down each time. Sounds obvious you might say...but last night I was so glad when he'd fall asleep mid-feed I put him straight down so I could get some kip...hence him waking every hour!

Batmam · 16/07/2014 22:26

Oops I am keen tonight!

Cannotbelieveit · 16/07/2014 22:46

Nightmare evening, Ryder has refused the breast since 9pm so hasn't had his bedtime/last feed!

He's been screaming and crying loads, he's finally stopped and settled with his dummy but won't feed??Gonna put him to bed but I'm sure i will be up soon. Really hope this isn't a nursing strike Confused

Writerwannabe83 · 16/07/2014 23:20

Well it's 23.15pm and DS has been screaming for 3 hours.

I thought he reacted badly to his first set of jabs and RV drops but this is something else! I was warned though that it's worse the 2nd time round.

He's in a absolute state and I'm at the end of my tether.

After 4 hours of broken sleep last night I'm so tired and desperately needed a good night tonight but I think that's out the question Sad

Batmam · 17/07/2014 01:42

Did they settle Cannot & Writer?

Cannotbelieveit · 17/07/2014 02:29

He eventually slept but hasn't fed yet. DS1 is wide awake and screaming, oddly ok when I go in his room tho, he wants to bloody play??!! so I've been in and out his room since midnight. Who has replaced my 7-7 sleeper with this horrible wide awake toddler? DH has gone in his room to sleep on the floor to see if he will settle like that. I can see him on the monitor just dancing round his cot Confused

Writerwannabe83 · 17/07/2014 04:47

He did at about 23.30pm but after all the screaming and commotion it took me ages to drop off. He's awake again now and having a feed. I reckon I've had about a 4 hour stretch of sleep. I'm pretty sure he will go back to sleep after his feed, I just hope I can too.

puggywug81 · 17/07/2014 05:24

Sounds like a good plan batman.

Cannot and writer you have my sympathies. On the advice of the jabs nurse I gave Fin a dose of calpol before bed to help with teething pain and jabs,he slept from 11 till 5 so I'm glad he finally got a decent sleep, I on the other hand really struggled.

Mil who is a lovely lady had a lung infection, she is feeling a bit better but the doc said there is still a crackle on her chest and did an xray results not due for 10 days. She wanted to come round last night, I said no as Fin's immune system is fighting the jabs don't want to add her infection to the mix. She seemed ok bit then sent a message saying she was upset and Fin isn't going to know who she is soon. I felt so guilty I said if Fin is ok and she feels better she can come Saturday or Sunday but now I'm worried again that I might be exposing Fin to her infection just because I feel guilty argh, hence no sleep! Sorry for the ramblings.

PollyP0429 · 17/07/2014 05:43

Morning ladies mind if I rejoin?? DD is 10 days away from 6 months old and still getting us up 5 timez a night with 2 or 3 feeds and resettling.

Trying to wean her down to 1 night feed, poor DH didn't sleep til 4 this morning as he kept getting up with her.

Batmam · 17/07/2014 06:17

Hi Polly! hope you're fast asleep now. Do you have any more DC?

Puggy that's really unfair of your MIL to make you feel guilty, stick to your guns. She is ill and you don't want DS to have it. Could DP not speak to her? Some MIL are experts in the art of manipulation no matter how lovely they are!

mrsmugoo · 17/07/2014 08:16

Morning ladies. A 7th consecutive great night here so now I'm starting to believe it's real!

He went down at 8:20 due to a late nap which he badly needed as his third nap was the grand total of 16 minutes!

I went to bed at 10 but was awake due to heat/needing the loo at 12:30, 3:30 and 4:30 before lifting him out for a feed at 5 and bringing him in with me til 7:45

OP posts:
Wherehasmysleepgone · 17/07/2014 08:45

Morning ladies, sorry to hear of those who had bad nights again, its so hard isn't it!
puggy I agree with Batman don't let MIL make you feel guilty, you never know she may regret that text this morning and realise you are doing what is best for your lo!
Polly your nights sound similar to what I was having, its draining being up that much so you have my sympathies!

My night was much better, I don't know whether this has anything to do with the amount he slept yesterday but would only have this much sleep if he was in his buggy as I can rock him if he stirs but he stirred at 11 as he hadn't managed to finish his bedtime bottle so I gave him the rest then he woke at 1.30, 4.40 for a feed then into bed with me at 6 and still hasn't fed since 4.40! This is a normal ish night for me obviously it would be great to drop the 1.30 feed but just pleased it wasn't as bad as the last few nights!

puggywug81 · 17/07/2014 08:59

Thanks batman, hope you had a good night with full feeds.

KateTheShrew · 17/07/2014 10:21

Sounds like a lot of us had horrible nights Sad

DS was up screaming every. single. hour between 11pm and 4 am. The only way I could calm him was bf. But then I'd get him back to sleep and 45 mins later he'd be crying again. I really thought I was going mad at one point. He finally slept at shortly after 4. Then fed again at 7.30 and is still asleep now. DH and I are totally exhausted.

I think it's just the teething (though calpol didn't make one jot of difference) but I'm going to try to get him in to see the GP today just in case. I never want to go through a night like that again.

puggywug81 · 17/07/2014 10:55

Good luck Kate hope you get some help at the gp.

Cariad007 · 17/07/2014 11:56

Not a bad night here, DS only got up once or twice and slept til 930am but I think that may be because I gave him two doses of Calpol for teething pan. I wish the damn teeth would just come through and be done with!
