BF one breast bigger, how do I get a good fitting bra?`

Sorry about the possibly silly question.
I had blocked ducts a couple of weeks ago (so painful) and was told it might be bacause of too small a bra. My 2 favourite ones are very tightfitting, especially around the right breast as this is bigger, so since then I've been using slightly less tight sleepbras but these don't give enough support.
I want to get fitted for a new bra, but will they be able to help me if my breasts are different sizes? I'm just worried the lady will say there is nothing she can do or even worse, laugh at me..
I've heard from other mums different size breasts is quite common when BF, but what do you do about a well fitting bra?

I think it's really worth going to a specialist stockist, don't know where you are but Blooming Marvelous have really brilliant bras which are really supportive. They won't laugh at you... surely they've seen it all!! Personal question but are your breast always different sizes or is this just related to breast feeding?? I know when i started i was told to feed ds on one side per feed... this led to the obvious problem of one side becoming huge while the other was empty. My Mum told me (they are the experts after all!) to feed both sides each time which was sooo much better for me.19 weeks later we're still happily breast feeding with no probs and my boobs are even... Bliss!!

I think they became uneven when I had blocked milk ducts in the first few weeks and fed more from the right breast (silly me)... And no matter how much I tried in the weeks that followed I never managed to get them back to normal again. DS is now over 8 months.

i've got similar problem. DS is 10 months and I'm finally starting to lose weight through bf, yay! But now bigger right boob which always produced more milk looks huge all the time. Is it possible this late to feed on the left more and make them more even?

Same here folks, although not quite so obvious now, left is nearly always bigger than right. Think when I have the choice of both breasts (because they feel the same after expressing all day at work) I go for the left because I am right handed.

hi archiesmummy what area are you from? i am BF counsellor and i fit our mums with nursing bras and we can sell them at reduced cost because we are a surestart project. i am based in WALKDEN/LITTLE HULTON in MANCHESTER.

Thankyou Gracesmum. Unfortunaley I'm miles away, in Hastings, East Sussex. I'm in a surestart area though, is this a service they offer all over the country?

i dont think its a nationwide service, but bravado who supply our bras are a mail order company and probably have a web site. the bras cost about 30 pounds directly through them but are well worth it. surestart can sell them for 12.50 because we get them at cost. its worth enquiring at your surestart and even if they dont have that service available they can always ring bravado and enquire re setting one up. good luck.

I have always had one boob bigger than the other & it has got slightly worse with the bf. All the times I have been measured over the years they have all recommended getting a bra to fit the bigger side. You do end up with a slightly crinkly look on the other as the material is looser, but that can usually be lessened by tightening the strap slightly more.

The only other way to ensure a perfect fit is to get a bra custom fit.
