Gaviscon questions

My DS is 18 weeks and has had a persistent dry cough since birth, his cry can sound hoarse and cough makes him cry. He's now fully formula fed and isn't brilliant with his milk, fussing/crying and drinking small amounts (he's gaining weight but has come down a centile thingy)

Anyway he now has gaviscon prescription and I have two perhaps dumb questions I thought someone here might have experience with:

If I mix up a feed with the full amount of gaviscon and he only drinks half (or more likely less) of the bottle, will he be getting the medicine or would it all sink to the bottom? Should i prepare say 4oz bottles instead and use one sachet in each bottle.

Have been advised to give water after milk to combat likely constipation but DS isn't a big fan, can I make up a feed with an extra 1 or 2oz of boiling water instead of giving this separately?

Thank you in anticipation

I'm not sure about the water question, but the only way I've managed to get Gaviscon into my bf baby is to syringe it in, like Calpol, made up with less water than it tells you to mix it in because otherwise there's way too much!

Gaviscon is a PITA. We had more success with Ranitidine - and, it didn't make DD constipated either.
