BF, teeth and biting :(

DS is 6 months and got his first 2 teeth two weeks ago. He bit me once, minorly, soon after he got them but no other issues. Tonight he has bitten me 4 times, twice minorly and twice very painfully, enough to make me check if he'd drawn blood. Each minor time I've removed him and firmly said 'no', but both other times I've involuntarily yelped and sharply removed him. The first time I did that tonight he froze, then burst into tears as he knew I was cross, the second time he didn't seem bothered. I felt horrid for making him cry but know he has to learn not to do this.

I've fed him again since, but felt anxious the whole time, and as each stronger bite was on a different side I'm tender on both sides. Does anyone have any advice or experience to share as I really don't want to stop BF yet, and he doesn't take a bottle anyway, but don't want to carry on feeling anxious about feeding Sad

Thank you Thanks

No advice but much sympathy, dd bit me the other night and it was agony!

I had this and yelped really loudly, just couldn't help it as it was such a painful shock. Unfortunately DD reacted badly to my yelps and became scared, ending up with her refusing all feeds but dream-feeds for 8 days. I was beside myself with worry that she'd become really ill! It took a lot of patience to get her back to feeding again.

What I then discovered was that I should have removed her from the breast and put some physical distance between us but not scared her. Obviously not easy when it's sudden and very painful! Websites like Kelly Mom are good for info on things like this.

Good luck, biting during feeding is horrible and I totally understand why it makes you tense.
