Painful letdown

Dc2 is 10 weeks old and, whilst I've always felt my letdown strongly, recently it's been very painful - to the extent I have to breathe through it sometimes. Both sides are the same and the pain is like a red hot pressure with pins and needles. I had mastitis, and that's when the pain developed, but antibiotics have sorted that and there's definitely no lump etc.

Normal? Worrying?

Ive had painful letdown from the start. Dd is now nearly 7 months. Sometimes it's not so bad more of a tingle and sometimes I still have to grit my teeth through it.
How long have you had the pain for now?

I've also had a painful letdown with both babies, although I read on another thread recently tiktok I think saying this is very unusual Confused I found it got less painful from about 3 months and now at 4 months it is a tingle rather than the clampy pins and needles feeling.

It's been properly painful for a couple of weeks, but since dd was born (and with ds) it varies in intensity and discomfort. I read the same thread fleder I have a life, honest

I've also had painful letdown. For DD, it was only from about 6wks or so, I breastfed to 10mnths and it got a lot less painful, but was still there and still hurt quite a bit. No advice, just empathy!

Thanks giant . She's been cluster feeding for an hour now. Ouch :( sore nips and horrible letdown.

I suffered with painful let down for many weeks and even now I still get it sometimes.

With me it feels like my nipples have pins and needles, then they tighten really painfully and I feel like there is a wrench on them twisting them. Ouch.

It doesn't happen very often anymore but when it does it is usually when DS starts crying. It's still bloody painful and I do sometimes grit my teeth Grin

I had this too but its gotten much better. I used to get a second letdown and pain with it as well. Now 7 months in I hardly notice. The pain is much reduced - hope yours does too!
